He competed in judo in the heavyweight category (up to 100 kg). He is a graduate of Cherkasy National University named after Khmelnytsky.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Andriy Boloban joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is currently serving in the hot spots of the frontline. He was injured and underwent rehabilitation.

In 2023, the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, awarded the Cherkasy athlete.

"General Syrskyi presented me with the award for personal bravery. I showed bravery together with my colleagues during the assault. We were conducting an offensive on the outskirts of Bakhmut. For almost a year, the 5th Separate Assault Brigade has been successfully performing tasks in the east. For the third month we have been holding back the enemy in Bakhmut. I am grateful to battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Yuriy Cherepyan and company commander Ivan Talko for their wise leadership and for saving the lives of the soldiers," said Andriy.
