MMA World Cup winner killed at the front

Ukrainian mixed martial arts fighter Eduard Kostritsa died fighting Russian occupants near Bakhmut, Donetsk region. This was reported by the National MMA Federation of Ukraine.

"A pupil of the FC Phoenix Kiev, winner of the World Cup in MMA, vice-champion of Europe in MMA and multiple champion of Ukraine in mixed martial arts MMA in the weight category of 52.2 kg. He was the soul of the company, a reliable support for all, had a great sense of humour. Sincere condolences to family and friends," the statement reads.

It should be noted that Eduard Kostritsa won a silver medal at the European MMA Championship in Rome in 2019. Already two years later, he won the Mixed Martial Arts World Cup at 52kg in Prague. At the tournament in the Czech Republic, the Ukrainian team was the best in the youth team event and third best in the adult event.

In addition, Kostritsa was involved in the Dynamo Kiev fan movement.

Eduard was 30 years old.
