Moskva, the huge flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet, has been sunk

The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, the Moskva missile cruiser, sank on April 14, 2022, presumably after a strike made on April 13, 2022 by the Neptune missile system of the Ukrainian Naval Forces

Moskva is a Russian guards missile cruiser, the lead ship of Project 1164 Atlant. He was part of the 30th division of surface ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy. Built at the shipyard named after 61 Communards in the city of Nikolaev (Ukraine), originally received the name "Glory". After the decommissioning of the project 1123 anti-submarine cruiser Moskva, he inherited his name and became the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet. He took part in military conflicts in Georgia (2008), Crimea (2014)[3], Syria (2015) and Ukraine (2022).

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the ship took part in the capture of Serpents' Island. It was in the address of the cruiser "Moscow" that the phrase "Russian warship, go to ..." was heard.

On the night of April 13-14, 2022, the ship was severely damaged as a result of a fire and explosion. The ship was attacked by two Neptune anti-ship missiles.

It was designed to strike at large surface ships of the enemy, ensured the combat stability of naval anti-submarine groups; could also carry out air defense of remote formations and fire support for the landing.

Tactical number 121 (previously 126).

The death of "Moscow" became the most expensive military loss of Russia in the war with Ukraine. Presumably, with an initial cost of about $2 billion, the residual value of the cruiser was $750 million.
