Russian troops destroyed the St. George Skete in Sviatogorsk Lavra

The St. George's Skete of the Sviatogorsk Assumption Lavra in the village of Dolyna was completely destroyed. The Russian invaders struck an artillery strike on the temple.

In the village Dolina in 1862 built the parish church of St. George the Great Martyr. 

Classes in 1903 had 150 students, the school also had a dormitory for 20 orphaned boys. The teacher of the school was appointed from among the Sviatogorsk brethren.

Walls of this temple are decorated with stucco figures of prophet David and various animals. Around the church were erected enclosures, a bell tower, which are surrounded by walls with towers.

The first shelling of the church occurred on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. According to preliminary reports, 7 civilians were wounded and the dormitory building was also damaged.

According to the Office of the Attorney General, the St. George's hermitage was completely destroyed on May 9, 2022. The Russian occupiers launched an artillery strike on the hermitage.
