The year 2023 started with heavy losses for the Russian occupiers. Some sources claim the loss of an entire battalion of Russian troops stationed in Makeyevka. After this event, the Russians decided to take revenge on the Ukrainians and attacked the ice arena in the town of Druzhkovka. According to the Russians, they destroyed a base of AFU troops, 4 HIMARS installations and an ammunition depot in one place. However, as it turned out, the place was a warehouse with humanitarian aid for local residents. There were no casualties from the incident.
