On 19 June 2023, Ukrainian athlete, actor and warrior Yevhen Svitlychnyi was killed in the Kharkiv sector during battles with the occupying army. The death of the Ukrainian defender became known to the public only a week and a half later, when the soldier's colleagues and comrades-in-arms spoke about it on their social media.
In addition, Yevhen Svitlychnyi also established himself as an actor. In September 2021, the Ukrainian feature film Rhino by Oleg Sentsov, in which Yevhen played the role of Karas, was released on the big screens. The film is set in the 90s, and the protagonist is a bandit nicknamed 'Rhino' who has become a 'thunderstorm' in the criminal underworld. Filming took place in Kryvyi Rih, where Yevhen was born, Kyiv and Lviv.
29-year-old Yevhen Svitlychnyi, nicknamed "Zheka", was a fighter with the 1st Separate Mechanised Battalion of the 67th Mechanised Brigade "Da Vinci Wolves". In 2022, he was awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine".
