On 24 August 2022, Russian terrorists launched a missile attack on a railway track and the adjacent village of Chaplino, Dnipropetrovsk Region. Several residential houses were destroyed and later a train at the Chaplino railway station was shelled. Four carriages caught fire. There were people in them. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned the shelling of Chaplino in his video address to the UN Security Council. Representatives of the Russian Defence Ministry said that the target of the rocket attack was a military echelon and reported the success of the operation. More than 25 people were killed in the Russian attack, and more than 30 suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity.
