On April 1, 2022 Russian troops entered Izyum. The city was occupied and the local population was tortured, abused and subjected to the imposition of 'Russian peace' in defiance of Ukrainian civilians. Throughout the occupation and before it, the Russians shelled the city with guns of various calibres. Almost the entire city was damaged, including architectural monuments. While retreating from the city, the Russian army continued to bombard its own abandoned positions with terrorist fire. After Ukraine's liberation, life is returning to the city, with utilities working.
