On the night of 22 March, an air alert was declared in Kyiv and a number of regions of Ukraine. Air defence forces were deployed in Kyiv, Khmelnytsky and Zhytomyr regions due to the enemy air attack.
It is reported that during the Russian air attack on the night of 22 March, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 16 of the 21 Shahed drones launched by the Russians, including 8 enemy UAVs over Kyiv, all of which were destroyed.

The same night, in the town of Rzhyshchiv, Kyiv region, a Russian attack by kamikaze drones partially destroyed the 4th and 5th floors of two five-storey dormitories and a three-storey educational building of a vocational lyceum.
