On the morning of March 2, the Defence Forces of southern Ukraine reported that Russia attacked the Odessa region with eight Shahed-131/136 type drones launched from the waters of the Black Sea. Seven of these drones managed to be shot down by air defence forces, the military stressed.

As a result of the Russian drones' attack, part of the entrance of an Odessa flat block with 18 flats was destroyed. Several people were hospitalised. More than 200 people were involved in the search and rescue operation, the city council said. According to its data, heating networks were damaged in the impact, so 11 houses, a school and a kindergarten were left without heating.
