Yuriy Lutsenko, born in 1964, has twice served as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (2005-2006, 2007-2010) and also served as Prosecutor General (2016-2019).

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was conscripted into the active army and is on the front line. Yuriy Lutsenko, with the rank of captain, has been appointed commander of the strike drone platoon (UAV). The former prosecutor-general's press secretary, Larisa Sargan, said this, citing an order from the Ukrainian army chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyy. According to Lutsenko's posts on social networks at the beginning of March, he is at the front in Bakhmut.

Back in 2020, Lutsenko was treated for cancer in Germany. He survived surgery and had a chemotherapy course ahead of him.
