Personalities before and after the start of the war

Valeriy Ananyev served in the AFU for five years, two of which were in the war zone between Ukraine and Russia. He served in the 25th Airborne Brigade. He is the author of the book Traces on the Road.

On 22 September some of Azovstal's captive heroes returned to Ukraine. Among them was Mykhailo Dianov, whose picture has gone around the world. 

A prisoner exchange has taken place between Ukraine and Russia. 215 defenders of Ukraine have returned home.

Journalist Oleksandr Makhov, who was serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed by Russian shelling. For many years, Oleksandr worked for Ukraina and Ukraina24 TV channels and covered events at the frontline.
