Personalities before and after the start of the war

Andriy Khlyvnyuk is a Ukrainian musician, vocalist and lyricist for the band Boombox. In 2022, after the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, he joined the ranks of the Territorial Defence Battalion of Ukraine.

Kolya Serga is a Ukrainian musician, TV presenter, actor and singer. He became known as one of the hosts of the programme Heads and Tails.

A well-known Ukrainian historian, archaeologist and local historian Yurii Kovalenko was killed in the battle for Bakhmut. Yurii is survived by his wife and two children.
 

On 4 May, Oleksiy Khabatiuk, former Deputy Head of the Energy Efficiency Department at Naftogaz, was killed in the war. He had served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since May 2022.

On 12 October, kamikaze drones attempted to attack Vinnytsia, and the wreckage of one of them damaged Vadym's plane. The pilot managed to divert the burning aircraft and prevent it from crashing into residential areas. 

Dmytro Kotsiubailo, nicknamed "Da Vinci", was a Ukrainian soldier, the first volunteer to be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine during his lifetime. From the age of 18, he defended our land from the Russian occupiers.

For almost a year now, Ukraine has been resisting Russia's full-scale invasion. Many athletes have not stayed away from the war, taking up arms to defend independence.
 

Unfortunately, war does not pass without losses. Among celebrities there are also many who tragically died defending their country from Russian invaders.

Ukrainian mixed martial arts fighter Eduard Kostritsa died fighting Russian occupants near Bakhmut, Donetsk region. This was reported by the National MMA Federation of Ukraine.
